My own personal choice for the Greatest Briton would be Queen Elizabeth – the Queen Mother, her lovelly warm smile and the dignity which she carried herself with is still an inspiration to many to this day.

It has to be Churchill – Great Britain would no longer exist if it wasn’t for him.

Can I just say that I hate Catherine Cookson – she has done a disservice to the region she came from and has perpetuated so many stereotypes.
Sue xx
p.s. I am from the region she wrote about so I know whereof I speak.

The Greatest Briton I admire was a teacher I had at Infants School (some 25+ years ago!) called Mrs Buckley. She was amazing and totally inspired me to work hard to be whatever I wanted to be. I still have all the (really old, well loved) Famous Five books she gave me complete with personal inspirational messages in them to encourage me to keep reading and working hard. She was fab and I’ll never forget her!!

David Beckham has got to be one of the best Britons ever. His services & commitment to football need no explanations and he does alot of various charitable work with children etc. Besides that, he has got to be the best looking man on our planet!!!!

28 warnie { 09.12.09 at 9:52 }

My greatest briton has to be Jane Tomlinson who through the pain and heartache of suffering from terminal cancer raised thousands of pounds for charity virtually until the very end of her days on earth and her legacy now lives on through her wonderful family who raise money for charity in her name. I hereby salute the courage and bravery of such an outstanding young lady. RIP Jane xx

As so many have said Diana and its says be unqiue Sterling Moss for his contribution to the world of motor racing.

30 busilizzi { 09.12.09 at 12:10 }

For me the greatest briton is JK Rowling, no only has she done loads of charity work, she is an example of just how much a single mother can acheive. This time 15 years ago she was not that different to me! She has also inspired a whloe generation of children too read, before Harry Potter my son never picked up a book, but now he always has his nose in one.
