Did you know that on 8th March, it is the 100th International Women’s Day world event? Starting in 1911, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

As you all know, women have come a long way in a short time, when in many Westernised countries there were considered to be second class citizens, in many countries throughout the world, women still are not treated equally. However, great improvements have been made. We have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomed into university, women can work and have a family; women have real choices. And so the tone and nature of IWD has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.

Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women’s craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more.

As we are 888ladies, after all, we LOVE the fact that we are full of amazing, empowered, beautiful ladies, we want to make 8th March EXTRA SPECIAL FOR YOU!

As if you could forget, our great Glaswegian winner, rotfpmslmao, won our Grand Prize of a FIAT 500 Convertible on Xmas Eve in our Advent Calendar promotion! This lucky lady MAXED OUT to 48 tickets and boy, didn’t it just pay off – £12,000 worth of car!!!

Cheeky60, a British born South African who has just moved back to the UK, to Oxfordshire, after raising a family in South Africa, took some time out to be interviewed by me, Agent008.

Agent008: So how did you feel to win £5,000?

Cheeky60: I am so shocked! I couldn’t believe it! I was just purchasing tickets in another room, I then went to make myself a cup of tea and when I got back my balance was up to £5,000!!!
